First Generation Summer Bridge Program

Summer Bridge is a pre-semester orientation that is designed to support your transition to the university and introduce you to the larger first-generation community. The program involves:

  • Workshops from campus support services.
  • Insight and tips from current first-gen students.
  • Community-building activities.
  • Lots of fun!

This event is for incoming first-generation college students at Chapman University and is run by staff and students who they themselves are first-generation college students. Chapman defines a first-generation college student as one whose parents(s)/ legal guardian(s) have not completed a bachelor's degree at a four-year college or university.

Program Details 

  • Dates: Wednesday, August 16; Friday, August 18; Saturday, August 19; Sunday, August 20
    • The program will be offered virtually on Wednesday, August 16.
    • The following dates of Friday, August 18; Saturday, August 19; and Sunday, August 20 will be offered in-person on Chapman's campus.
  • Saturday, August 19 is Family Day and families are invited to attend.
  • Student participation in all four days is required.

This program is only available for students starting in the fall. To register, please complete this application form.
