Global Focus

ยป Global Focus

One of your general education requirements at Chapman University is the Global Focus. The Global Focus centers around service learning, global citizenship and world languages and cultures.

Many of the classes within the Global Focus also give you the chance to study abroad.

Global Focus: Inquiry Areas

The Global Focus is split into three categories called Inquiry Areas. Each Inquiry Area requires a certain amount of credits to complete.

See the amount of credits, as well as full class lists for Each Inquiry Area, below:

When should I take my Global Focus classes?

You do not have to take your Global Focus classes during your first year.

We encourage you to take them whenever they best fit into your schedule.

All of the Inquiry Areas offer classes suitable for students of all class standings (first year through senior). This gives you the flexibility to complete your Global Focus classes at the level that makes the best academic sense for you.

Tips for completing the Global Focus

  • Think beyond the classroom. Parts of the Global Focus are designed to take you beyond the classroom and beyond campus. As you prepare to fulfill your Global Focus requirements, get in the mindset to learn in the larger Southern California community or even abroad.
  • Don’t forget to check out our Language Exams page to learn how you may be able to waive parts of your Language Inquiry requirement.
