ยป Campus Posting Policy Frequently Asked Questions
Please review the frequently asked questions about the Campus Posting Policy to help clarify any additional scenarios or questions you may have. If you don't see an answer to your question, please feel free to reach out to campuspostings@chapman.edu.
Do I need approval to post on campus?
For postings on campus, as defined by the Campus Posting Policy, you do not need to get approval. There are different requirements for recognized campus organizations, clubs and units vs community and external organization postings. Please keep that in mind
For campus displays that are beyond the listed requirements in the Posting Policy, you must work with Event Operations per the Outdoor Exhibits and Displays Policy.
What time does the cleanup begin on the first and third Fridays?
Cleanup begins at 6 p.m. on the first and third Friday of each month.
Does the cleanup schedule impact the bulletin boards and other spaces within each of the buildings?
The cleanup schedule on the first and third Friday of each month is for the public outdoor spaces on campus and a few major public spaces indoors like the Argyros Forum stairwell and the Student Union. Bulletin boards and other areas in buildings will be left alone and it is the responsibility of the building managers (staff designated in those buildings) to maintain those spaces as needed.
Indoor postings that violate the Policy will be addressed by the cleanup team.
Can I request for certain postings to stay up between the cleanup schedule?
No. The cleanup team is not individually looking at postings, so it is the responsibility of the poster to coordinate around the first and third Friday of the month. This may require you to remove the posting the day before cleanup and repost after that date.
As a reminder, the cleanup schedule on the first and third Friday of each month is for the public outdoor spaces on campus and a few major public spaces indoors like the Argyros Forum stairwell and the Student Union. Building managers (staff designated in those buildings) control the cleanup frequency of their indoor boards.
Please work with Event Operations for any reserved spaces for displays and exhibits. These spaces will not be touched during the routine cleanup schedule.
My building does not have any approved posting locations, what do I do?
Chapman University is currently discussing improvements to the posting infrastructure on campus, which includes looking at buildings to ensure they have proper posting areas indoors. If you are in a building that offers no posting locations, please email campuspostings@chapman.edu, so the need can be elevated to Campus Planning.
When does chalking get cleaned up on campus?
Chalking will be removed on a routine basis (possibly daily) unless it is part of a reserved space through Event Operations. While subject to change, routine cleaning of campus walkways is generally scheduled to occur daily between the hours of 10 p.m.- 8 a.m.
Are whiteboards included in the routine cleanup process?
The whiteboards will not be wiped by the cleanup team during the routine scheduled cleanings. The building managers (core staff in the buildings) can manage the whiteboards as needed. Aligning to proper campus conduct should still be accounted for in the management of the whiteboards.
NOTE: Whiteboards are intended as a free space to brainstorm and teach as needed. Do not expect your work to be saved on whiteboards for long periods. Capture your work prior to leaving the whiteboard if you intended on saving the information. They can be erased at any time unless it's a personal whiteboard.
