» Advanced Placement

Chapman University grants credit for department designated minimum scores earned on approved Advanced Placement examinations. The minimum score requirements for the current catalog year for each exam are listed below. Chapman accepts only official score reports received directly from College Board. Scores listed on high school or other college records are not accepted.

If an approved exam does not have a direct equivalency with a Chapman course or a general equivalency with a Chapman subject, it will be considered general lower-division credit and assigned the TRAN-100TR course code. For more information on course equivalencies, please see the Transfer Credit Policies and Guidelines page.

A maximum of 32 credits may be earned in passing courses by examination. No more than 32 credits will be awarded for dual credit (college work taken while concurrently enrolled in high school or GED program) or combined dual credit and AP, or IB.

Special Note for Pre-Med Students: Not all medical schools accept Advanced Placement scores to satisfy admission requirements.

GE Area Codes: AI (Artistic Inquiry), CC (Citizenship, Community, Service Inquiry), GC (Global Studies Inquiry), LC (Language Inquiry), NI (Natural Sciences Inquiry), QI (Quantitative Inquiry), SI (Social Inquiry), VI (Values and Ethics Inquiry), and WI (Written Inquiry).
