Jewish clubs and organizations

Dani Sharkey ‘24
Animation & Visual Effects major, Integrated Educational Studies minor
“I've been able to connect with my Jewish identity at Chapman in ways that weren't possible in my hometown. There are so many funny ways I've been able to get involved, whether it's spending Shabbat with my friends at Hillel or grabbing free falafel in the piazza!”

Observing Jewish holidays and traditions

At Chapman, you will have welcoming places to join in religious, social, and cultural programming regularly, including several major Jewish observances and celebrations.

For more details, visit the Observing Jewish Holidays and Traditions section on the Jewish Students page.

Religious accommodations

Chapman’s religious accommodations policy ensures that all students have the right to utilize certain religious accommodations, allowing you to modify your schedule in accordance with religious observances.

Talya Malka ’24
Communication Studies major, Entrepreneurship minor
“I wasn’t sure college was for me, especially after seeing the horrific antisemitism on college campuses nationwide. But after taking a tour of Chapman during one of the holidays, Sukkot, and seeing a sukkah (a temporary hut) on campus by the Fish Interfaith Center and the Holocaust memorial in the Library, I felt like I had found my place.”

Academic opportunities

We have several resources that support Holocaust education at Chapman. This includes:

  • The Holocaust History minor allows you to study the origins and history of the Holocaust within the context of European and Jewish history, and explore the central themes and topics in Holocaust research.
  • Academic courses: As a Chapman student, there are ways you can apply Jewish Studies to your coursework, pursue Jewish research opportunities, and work with associated professors on campus.
  • Jewish internships and careers: There are internship opportunities in Jewish nonprofit work, social justice, spirituality, and education that the department of Jewish Life can help you get connected to as a Chapman student.
Holocaust Art and Writing Contest
(open to high school students)
The Annual Holocaust Art and Writing Contest allows you to showcase your creativity in art, poetry, prose, or film to explore Holocaust history and its impact. Visit the Holocaust Art & Writing Content page for more details about submission criteria.
