Explore the natural environment of Southern California through our diverse range of student clubs dedicated to outdoor activities. Chapman is within driving distance of beaches and mountains—so you could go surfing and skiing on the same day!

As a Chapman student, you won’t have to explore the outdoors alone. The clubs below are open to all students and can help you find opportunities for fun activities and experiences right in your backyard.

BirdWatching Association

Engages students who are interested in Southern California’s diverse bird ecosystem and nature photography through group activities, trips, and educational meetings.

“Outdoor activities have always been a part of my life, and as I got older, I started going on hikes myself. I learned I really loved it and that it was something I wanted to continue in college with a group. So it’s been really nice to have a community to do that with.”

Skate Club

Provides a supportive environment for skaters of all skill levels to come together through a variety of activities. From casual skate sessions around campus to organized trips to nearby skateparks, members are able to explore the thriving skate scene in Orange County.

Snow Club

Unites students of all skill levels who share a love for snow sports. The club is dedicated to offering support, encouragement, and financial assistance to those eager to embark on trips to winter destinations around the area.

Surf Clubsurf-club.jpeg

Bringing together students of various skill levels who share a common love for surfing, Surf Club provides excursions and surfing workshops at nearby beach destinations in Southern California. Discover your community of friends and fellow athletes as you cultivate a strong sense of camaraderie both in and out of the water.
