The Residence License Agreement (RLA) is the financially binding agreement between the resident and Chapman University. Residents must review and digitally agree to the RLA through the Housing Portal. You can review the general language agreement by clicking on the appropriate link:

While students are legally and financially bound to their given housing assignment for the entire period identified on the Residence License Agreement, some exceptions are made for extenuating circumstances. If a student wishes to leave on-campus housing, they must submit a License Release Request Form, including the supplemental documents described on the form. Please note that the submission of a license release request does not guarantee its approval.

To request an housing accommodation for a disability, submit this Housing Disability Accommodation Request form. The request must include all required information as outlined in the form, including documentation from your healthcare provider. If you have inquiries about housing disability accommodations, please email housingDAR@chapman.edu.

Chapman maintains a “no pets” policy in the residence halls and apartment communities. However, in accordance with applicable law, we consider requests for accommodations to housing policy to allow students equal access and use of Chapman University housing.

Chapman University requires that all guests of Chapman residents be registered through our Guest Registration Form. See our Guest Registration page to access and submit the form.

If you plan on filming in the residence-hall area for any reason, you must first obtain a Residence Life Film Permit. Please visit the your Dodge Portal to start the film permit process. If you have any questions, please contact ftvprodmgmt@chapman.edu.

Also note:

We strongly recommend that you contact Dodge College regarding your permit at least 14 days prior to your anticipated filming date.
The request may be denied or revoked by the Office of Residence Life and First Year Experience at any time.

In addition, filming the following may be in violation of our policies and may result in denial of your request:

Depictions of acts of violence, including the use or exhibition of any weapons including fakes and replicas.
Simulated or actual use of any type of drug.
Simulated or actual use of any alcoholic beverages.
The use of any animals (excluding fish tanks under 10 gallons).
The use of fire or smoke effects.
Excessive amperage requirement.
Excessive noise.
Any other activities that violate the Student Conduct Code or the Residential Living License Agreement.

If you plan to put up flyers in the Chapman residence halls or apartments, you must first obtain approval. To obtain approval, please fill out the Flyer Approval Form.

This form is required to maintain our current facilities at the highest standard and ensure only approved materials are posted in residential buildings. Unapproved flyers put up in residence halls and apartments are subject to removal.
