HELPFUL TIPS USING YETI:

Refer to the Yeti box for the type of setting to use for your recording.
There is no shock mount so the Yeti will pick up every little sound you make. Be careful.
Adjust the gain to control the sensitivity of sound the Yeti picks up.
Positioning: Use the front of the microphone, which is the side with the Blue logo on it. It is not like a regular microphone do not use the end like eating a hot dog instead use the front. Stay within 6 to 10 inches from the microphone.
If you have a boom stand use it. You want to get the microphone off the desk to avoid the Yeti from picking up vibrations.
Use a pop filter.
Mute button: when the light is flashing red, the mute function is on. When the light is solid red the mute function is off.

Using Audacity with Yeti

Plug in the Yeti first before opening the Audacity application otherwise it will not detect the Yeti.
Go to the start menu and open the Audacity application.
You will need to change the speakers and microphone from the default to Yeti. There are two ways to change the setting.
1. The 1st way is to:
  1. Click on the Edit tab at the top of the page.
  2. From the edit tab go to Preferences
  3. Click on Devices
  4. Playback Device: choose Yeti
  5. Recording Device: choose Yeti
  6. The 2nd way to change the default to Yeti is:
  7. Go to the speaker icon, click on the dropdown menu and choose Yeti.
  8. Go to the microphone icon, click on the dropdown menu and choose Yeti.
You are all set to record.
To save your file go to the file menu and click Save As to save as an audacity project.
Choose what kind of audio file and where to export (for example: mp3, WAV, OGG)

Using GarageBand with Yeti on your Mac

Open GarageBand and click Empty Project
Under the Audio track type, choose Record using a microphone or line input.
Make sure the following are applied:
1. Input: input 1
2. My instrument is connected with: Yeti
3. Check the box that says: I want to hear my instrument as I play and record.
4. I hear sound from: make sure it says: Yeti
Click Create.
You are now ready to record.
