Initiative Overview
Welcome to the Career Compass Initiative, a multi-phase project to modernize Chapman University’s classification system. It aims to support and empower staff and administrators as they chart their course to career success.
The past few years have redefined how we work and allowed us to recognize the shift with current times. The Office of Human Resources launched the Career Compass Initiative in March 2022 after identifying the gap within our current classification system compared to employee needs within a multi-generational workforce and transparency with career mobility.
The Career Compass Initiative aims to create a modern classification taxonomy and compensation program with transparent career paths. With the support of our Senior Leaders, we are excited to have embarked on this journey and look forward to providing our staff and administrators with visibility, transparency, and support as they discover their true career potential.
Current State
The success of the Career Compass Initiative relies on six distinctive phases listed below. We have completed the first two phases, Discovery and Description of Position and Responsibilities (DPR) Study. Chapman University and our partner Segal, a nationally recognized Human Resources consulting firm, are in phase three, the DPR Analysis.
