The Building


At 140,000 square feet and a cost of $130 million, the Keck Center for Science and Engineering is the largest, most expensive and most technologically advanced facility ever built at Chapman University.

Home to the highly regarded Schmid College of Science and Technology in the Hall of Science and to the new Fowler School of Engineering in the Swenson Family Hall of Engineering, the Keck Center is a catalyst for collaboration and innovation in the fields of science, engineering and technology.

As we reflect on the great success of the grand opening of the Hall of Science in 2018, it is with great anticipation and excitement that we look forward to the opening of the Swenson Family Hall of Engineering in the fall of 2021.

Under the Grand Challenges Initiative, interdisciplinary student teams will partner to tackle the most critical and immediate challenges we face in our world. Renowned faculty members, postdoctoral researchers and team members from diverse science backgrounds will synthesize unique approaches to a broad range of global problems, such as renewable energy, food availability and climate change.
