The Department of Dance offers two degree programs designed to foster the artistic and academic goals and abilities of each student:
Each of these degrees provides excellent preparation for those students planning to enter the professional dance world and/or attend graduate school.
- Program Learning Outcomes - Bachelor of Arts in Dance
- Program Learning Outcomes - Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance
Entrance to all programs in Dance are by audition only. All dance major students begin in the Bachelor of Arts degree program and may choose to audition for the Bachelor of Fine Arts program in the spring of their sophomore year.
The Department of Dance also offers a dance minor. Dance minor students are expected to have significant previous experience in dance. Those students who wish to enter this program must audition in the spring of their freshman or sophomore year. Prior to the minor auditions, students must submit a written application for the minor (see Dance Department administrator) and take a technique class at Chapman. There are annual opportunities to perform and choreograph in several highly produced dance department concerts as well as in student clubs such as Chapman Dance Team, CDA, Toxique, Floor 13, and Team Shaka.
