Adding a MInor

» Adding a Minor

At Chapman, you can request to add a minor as a secondary area of study alongside your major.

Minors are a great way to explore a subject separate from your major and expand your skillset. They can also fulfill your Exploration Focus (one of your General Education Requirements).

Steps to add a minor

Step 1: Meet with your advisor

Minors are smaller programs than majors, and won’t have as big an impact on the time it takes to complete your degree.

However, it’s still a good idea to talk to your advisor before adding a minor. They can help:

  • Decide if the minor is a good fit for you.
  • Plan how you will complete the classes in your minor.
  • Introduce you to the advisor for the minor if the subject falls under a different school/college from your major.
  • And more.

You can look up your advisor by your current major on our Find Your Advisor page.

Step 2: Fill out the form for adding a minor

Once you have spoken with your advisor, you are ready to submit your request to add the minor. You will make that request through an eForm in your StudentCenter.

You can request to add the minor by following the step-by-step instructions on our Form for Changing & Adding Majors/Minors page.

After submitting, keep an eye on your Chapman inbox. You will receive an email letting you know whether your request was approved or denied.
