Welcome from Nancy Brink, Executive Director of the Fish Interfaith Center

Welcome to the Christian students page! Though Chapman is officially recognized  by two Christian denominations, this is not a Christian school. Through the Fish Interfaith Center and the chaplains who work here, Chapman promotes interfaith understanding to help people create a more peaceful world.  

There are a number of Christian clubs for you to choose from whether you are a non-denominational Christian, evangelical, Roman Catholic, Orthodox, LDS, Pentecostal, or are part of the progressive protestant Christian movement. The chaplains at the Fish Interfaith Center are happy to help you start a new club if you do not find what you are seeking.

Disciples on Campus

Chapman University is related to The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and The United Church of Christ. 

Disciples on Campus has served as the official student ministry for both denominations since 1987.

• Disciples of Christ has a student leadership that holds weekly worship, plans special events and service projects, provides educational/mission opportunities and much more.
• There are potential scholarship opportunities for students from Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) or United Church of Christ congregations, which you can learn more about on the Christian Applicants page or by contacting Nancy Brink at brink@chapman.edu. 

Clubs and organizations

Several of the clubs and organizations listed below are local chapters of nationally recognized Christian organizations. 

Unless otherwise noted, they are open to all Christian denominations and interested students. 

• Chapman CRU: A Christian ministry of Chapman students who come together to socialize, discuss, and help students grow in their faith.

• Delight Ministries: A female-centered Christian ministry that meets weekly and provides a space for women to share stories, have worship nights, pursue opportunities for service, and have fun get-togethers to foster relationships.

• Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA): A student organization of Christian athletes that aims to engage, equip, and empower Chapman coaches and students to unite and change the world through the gospel.

• InterVarsity Christian Fellowship: An organization that aims to cultivate thriving communities of faith throughout Chapman.

• Newman Catholic Fellowship (NCF): A student organization that promotes the Catholic faith and community at Chapman through frequent meetings/discussion groups and celebrations of the holy mass.

• Orange Christian Students: A joint student club between Chapman and Santiago Canyon College that gives students a space to study and learn the Bible, develop relationships, foster spiritual growth, and make friends through group Bible studies, dinners, and fellowship.

• Young Life: A Christian ministry in Orange County that reaches out to middle school, high school, and college students in all 50 of the United States and in more than 100 countries around the world. Many Chapman students volunteer and pursue internships at this organization.

Students can also learn about and join clubs in person at the Student Involvement Fair, which takes place once every semester.

Chapman Christian events and resources

At Chapman, the Fish Interfaith Center offers programming for various Christian denominations and traditions. 

These events do not require prior registration, therefore students can attend at their own convenience.

• Catholic Mass: Every Wednesday at noon and Sundays at 4 p.m., the Newman Catholic Fellowship student group celebrates weekly masses with Fr. Rafael Luevano in the Fish Interfaith Center.
• Progress Christian Worship: Every Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Fish Interfaith Center, Disciples on Campus hosts gatherings for students drawn to a socially and politically progressive interpretation of Christianity.

Religious accommodations

Chapman’s religious accommodations policy ensures that all students have the right to utilize certain religious accommodations, allowing you to modify your schedule in accordance with religious observances.

The Saint John’s Bible

Located in Leatherby Libraries, the Saint John's Bible is a handcrafted, illuminated Bible that is not only a work of art, but is also a spiritual and educational tool for you to take advantage of as a student.
