Follow these steps to apply to Dodge College of Film and Media Arts as a graduate student.

Step 1: Know your deadline

The Fall 2025 application deadline is November 15, 2024.

*February 1, 2025 for the Integrated MA in Film and Media Studies program.

Decisions will be released by the end of March.

Please note that Dodge graduate programs do not offer spring admission.

Step 2: Get your application requirements ready

The following documents are required no matter which program you are applying to. You will need to submit them as you are filling out your application, so make sure to have them ready before you start.

  • Statement of intent: Submit an essay expressing your reasons for wanting to join the program that you are applying to. What are your personal and career goals, and how will this particular degree from Chapman University help you reach those goals? Your essay should be double spaced, size 12 font, and 1-2 pages in length.
  • Resume.
  • Two letters of recommendation.
  • Creative Supplement (see step 3 for program-specific requirements).
  • Official transcripts from every degree-granting institution you’ve attended. All applicants who received (or will receive) a degree from a U.S. institution are required to submit official transcripts. Unofficial transcripts are only accepted for universities located outside the United States. Official and original documents will be required upon acceptance into one of our programs.

How to submit your official transcript(s)

Official transcripts should be sent directly from the university to Chapman University via email at admtranscript@chapman.edu or via post to:

Step 3: Prepare your Creative Supplement

All Dodge College applicants must submit a Creative Supplement. Your Creative Supplement is a showcase of your creative ability.

You only have to submit a Creative Supplement for your first-choice program. If you select a second-choice program on your application, you don’t have to submit a Creative Supplement for it.

The requirements for the Creative Supplement are different for each program. Please note that you must submit all of the required Creative Supplement materials for your specific program. Choose your program below to view requirements:

Step 4: Submit your application

Now that you have all your documents and your Creative Supplement, you can begin your application. Use our Application Portal to get started.

As you complete your application, you will be asked to upload everything that you prepared in steps 2 and 3.

Step 5: Wait

You’re all done. Now just sit tight. We’ll review your application and get back to you soon.
