Ambassadorial Scholarships
Requirements: Must be citizens of a country in which there
are Rotary Clubs; have completed at least two years of college-level coursework
or equivalent professional experience; cannot be Rotarians or employees of a
club or Rotary entity or be spouse or descendant of a member or employee; must
be proficient in the language of the proposed host country. Recipients are expected to outstanding
ambassadors of goodwill in their host country and to share the experiences of
understanding acquired with the people their home country (appearances at
Rotary Clubs, schools, civic organizations, and other forums).
Purpose: To further international understanding and friendly relations among people of different countries. The scholarships are to fund study in another country where there is a Rotary Club.
Award Types:
Global Grants: Funding for full-time graduate study overseas in one of six areas of focus: Peace and Conflict Prevention/Resolution; Disease Prevention and Treatment; Water and Sanitation; Maternal and Child Health; Basic Education and Literacy; or Economic and Community Development; minimum award is $30,000.
District Grants: Administered by individual Rotary Club districts, so qualifications and awards vary; check with local Rotary club for specific grants available.
Cultural – For either three or six months of intensive language study and cultural immersion and provide funds to cover round-trip transportation, language training expenses, and homestay living arrangements, not to exceed $12,000 and $19,000 respectively.

Deadlines: Set by individual Rotary Clubs – varies from March to July 15 of year preceding study abroad.
