The Fowler School of Law is proud to host a number of important and stimulating lectures throughout the academic year, ranging from informal patio discussions to distinguished guest lectures. Below are the categories of lecture series offered, with links to a schedule of speakers and topics (Note that some lecture series may not be repeated in every year. Prior schedules are provided for informational purposes).
The Chapman Dialogue Distinguished Lecture Series
This Chapman Dialogue Series is an annual lineup of distinguished lectures by some of the most innovative and thought-provoking scholars in the legal academy and social sciences. Visiting speakers are invited to present their research and ideas to the widest audience of faculty, students, alumni and special guests. A discussion will follow and will typically be led by one or two discussants from among the Chapman Law faculty. The Dialogue Series is sponsored by a number of influential local law firms and corporations. For more information, contact Associate Dean Danny Bogart.
The Global Center Lecture Series, hosted by the Center for Global Trade & Development at the Chapman University Fowler School of Law, brings together leading scholars in international law, policy and the social sciences to present their ideas to Chapman law faculty and students.
The Chapman University Fowler School of Law Faculty Workshop Series
The Fowler School of Law Faculty Workshop Series provides a forum for faculty to present their research and scholarship to colleagues. The workshops reflect the great ideological diversity of Chapman faculty and the Chapman ethic that encourages disagreement without being disagreeable. The environment, which is both challenging and constructive, helps to elevate the strength and quality of Chapman scholarship. For more information, contact Professor Donald Kochan at email@example.com.
The Chapman FIRST Lecture Series
Fresh Ideas for Rising Scholars and Teachers (FIRST) is a lecture series that offers the opportunity for junior faculty to present their research and scholarship in an environment that is critical, challenging, constructive, and friendly. For more information, contact Professor Ronald Rotunda at firstname.lastname@example.org.
