The arts are a critical component to the university’s bridge-building
efforts to the community, and a natural way to reach out to both the
city of Orange and Orange County at large.
It is an institutional aspiration to strengthen its bonds to the community through the arts. The university is home to student arts organizations, the Guggenheim Gallery and the Phyllis and Ross Escalette Permanent Collection of Art, attracting people from a wide variety of backgrounds who share an appreciation for the arts.
Musco Center will provide an appropriate venue for the multicultural arts, helping to advance Chapman’s mission to develop global citizens. Existing partnerships with community arts organizations – like Shakespeare Orange County and the Orange County Youth Symphony Orchestra – will be enhanced and new partnerships will be forged at the new center.
