Biography
Thomas Tanquary has worked in professional media for the last 49 years. He started as a part time newspaper photographer in 1971 then moved into radio in 1972 working as both management and on-air talent. In 1976, Thomas began his TV career as a news photographer at a local TV station. In 1984 he moved to Los Angeles to work for NBC local news. In 1992 he started my own production company doing freelance work for network TV, independent productions, and my own projects. Thomas co-wrote the text book "Portable Video - ENG and EFP" through 5 editions for The Focal Press.
Recent Creative, Scholarly Work and Publications
Besides the text book, Thomas produced and directed 2 feature length documentaries - "Find Our Ancient Wisdom - the Spiritual Origins of Western Society" available on Netflix and "Hand Drawn Life - The History and Influence of Newspaper Comic Strips" currently on the festival circuit. Also, for the last 23 years Thomas been one of the main DPs of the NBC News prime time program Dateline.
