Biography

Stephen Mark is best known for editing the pilot and much of the first three seasons of THE X-FILES. He later edited the first X-FILES feature film, FIGHT THE FUTURE, and the series pilots for ROSWELL, SMALLVILLE, WITHOUT A TRACE, and James Cameron’s DARK ANGEL. He has been acknowledged with two Emmy and three American Cinema Editors Eddy nominations. He has won the Eddy twice, once for DARK ANGEL and another time for his work on the HBO series DEADWOOD. Stephen has edited two Academy Award nominated short films, the documentary THE MAN ON LINCOLN’S NOSE and the live action short GRAFFITI. He has taught editing classes at USC, Florida State, Otis School of Art, and Columbia College Hollywood.

Recent Creative, Scholarly Work and Publications

Stephen is currently working on GALLERY VIEW, vignettes of characters who encounter one another on Zoom. He recently recorded an editing master class soon to be released on the EditMentor website. His work on the series GREENLEAF can be seen in its currently airing final season on OWN and on NETFLIX.
