Biography

Dr. Shawn Farrokhi is the department Chair and Professor of Physical Therapy who joined the Chapman faculty in the Summer of 2023.  With more than 20 years of combined experience in academia, clinical research, and patient care, Dr. Farrokhi offers a unique perspective towards advancing the field of musculoskeletal rehabilitation. While on faculty at the University Pittsburgh, Dr. Farrokhi received a K12 Career Development award that allowed him to complete a Master of Science degree in Clinical Research, which included advance training and relevant experience in the design and implementation of epidemiological studies and clinical trials to better understand the underlying mechanisms and appropriate treatment options for the management of musculoskeletal conditions. Using his training and previous research experience, Dr. Farrokhi has established a sustainable research program aimed at better understanding the risk factors and effective intervention strategies for the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions in civilian and military patient populations.
