Biography

Ryan Shiotsuki received his Ph.D. in Musicology from the University of California, Los Angeles. He is currently a lecturer at Chapman University, Cal Poly Pomona, and has previously taught at CSU Long Beach and UCLA. He specializes in Russian music during the fin de siècle and its relation to the transcendental strain in art and literature. He also holds a bachelor of arts degree in piano performance from UCLA where he studied under Walter Ponce. In addition to his interest in 19th-century piano music, Ryan is an avid harpsichordist with special affection for 16th- and 17th-century repertory.
