Biography

Phillip Triggs is a viola player active throughout Southern California. He can be heard playing his viola as far north as Santa Barbara County where he is assistant principal viola of the Santa Barbara Symphony, in Ventura County as principal viola of the New West Symphony, in L.A. County as a section member of the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, and in Orange County as a frequent substitute with the Pacific Symphony. You can also hear Phillip playing on numerous soundtracks and recordings for film, television, streaming, and video games. Recent credits include Black Adam, The Mandalorian, The Orville, Willow, Obi-Wan Kenobi, among many others.

He was trained at Chapman University under the tutelage of Robert Becker and Northwestern University with Roland Vamos. His summers were spent at Aspen Music Festival where he studied with James Dunham and Jeffrey Irvine. Early training was with renowned pedagogue William Fitzpatrick.

A dedicated and sought-after teacher, Mr. Triggs is on faculty at Chapman University and Santa Ana College. His former students have gone on to prestigious graduate schools and have established their own professional careers as teachers and performers. He also maintains a private studio at his home in Mission Viejo where lives with his wife, violinist Adriana Triggs, and two children.
