Biography

Mikayla Feldman is a music educator and singer. She received her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Chapman University, before going on to receive her Master of Arts in Education with a focus on teaching.

In addition to her position as the conductor of the University Treble Choir, she has served as the Assistant Director of the GRAMMY-recognized choral program at Tesoro High School since 2018. Driven by a desire to equip young singers with practical tools across all styles of singing, she has worked to translate technical and performance concepts into curricula that feels accessible at any level. In 2020, she developed several YouTube series on singing, vocal health, music theory, and performance anxiety. Her channel contains over 60 educational videos aimed at youth and young adults, and is featured by the American Choral Directors Association as an official resource for K-12 choral educators. It has been used in high school and collegiate classrooms across Southern California and viewed over 240,000 times. In 2022, her academic writing on performance anxiety in the choral classroom was published in ChorTeach, ACDA’s professional K-12 education journal.

Feldman is a member of the National Association of Teachers for Singing, and holds a pedagogical certification from New York Vocal Coaching. She continues to teach private voice, and enjoys helping students discover how to sing each note with maximum ease of expression. She works on the Chapman Choral Music Camp staff each summer as an ensemble director, voice teacher, and music technology instructor. Outside of the classroom, she has served for over 12 years as a worship leader, music director, vocal director, and instrumentalist in churches, and enjoys working with singers and musicians in this setting.
