Biography
Dr. Dintzner joined CUSP on June 29, 2020 as Associate Dean of Assessment and Accreditation
and Professor of Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Dr. Dintzner received a B.S. degree
with honors in chemistry from Holy Cross College in 1992, a Ph.D. in organic chemistry and
natural products synthesis from Syracuse University in 1998, and completed a post-doctoral
fellowship at The Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, CA (1998-2000).
Dr. Dintzner’s first academic appointment was in the Department of Chemistry at DePaul
University in Chicago, where she earned tenure and was promoted to associate professor in
2006, served as Director of the Chemistry Graduate Program (2005-2011), and Department
Chair (2011-2012). In 2012, Dr. Dintzner joined the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at
Western New England University (Springfield, MA) as an associate professor in the Department
of Pharmaceutical and Administrative Sciences. There, she earned tenure and was promoted to
professor in 2016 and served as Assistant Dean for Assessment and Accreditation (2015-2020).
During her academic career, Dr. Dintzner has taught organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry,
and biochemistry. She has conducted research in chemistry and chemistry education, and has
more recently become engaged in the scholarship of teaching and assessment in pharmacy
education. Dr. Dintzner’s research has been supported through awards from the National
Science Foundation (NSF), and she won DePaul University’s Excellence in Teaching Award in
2008. Dr. Dintzner has published over a dozen peer-reviewed manuscripts or book chapters in
synthetic organic chemistry methodology and chemistry education, and has begun to publish
within the fields of pharmaceutical education and assessment. Dr. Dintzner completed a
fellowship in Academic Leadership through the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy
during the 2015-2016 academic year. Dr. Dintzner received the Chapman University School of
Pharmacy Culture Award for Excellence in Communication in 2020.
