Biography

Professor Liz Sanchez (they/them) is an adjunct faculty member at Chapman University. They are a biracial queer feminist and education facilitator committed to abolition, transformative justice, intersectional, and queer frameworks. Liz is a transfer student who earned a BA in Sociology with a minor in Queer Studies, and an MA in Sociology with an emphasis in social justice movements. Their graduate research examines college campus activism. Through autoethnography methods, Liz researched and participated in campaign work to understand how students developed a collective identity and negotiated political organizing practices. In addition to their research, Liz has also been part of varying grassroot organizations and participated in numerous political demonstrations and acts of civil disobedience. Currently, Liz works as the Education Committee Chair for the grassroot organization Chicanxs Unidxs. They contribute to the development of queer curriculum on college campuses and high schools. They also work as a movement facilitator to support organization sustainability on college campuses and in the local community.
