Biography

Derek's career has spanned the world, literally. Graduating from Chapman University's Dodge College in 2005 with a degree in Film Production followed by a Masters from King’s College London, Derek dove into international television production. He began his career with the Emmy-winning series, The Amazing Race where he was fortunate enough to produce 12 seasons and film in over 35 countries. He then went on to produce series like Huang's World on VICE, Emmy-winning United Shades of America for CNN, Best Bars in America for Esquire, and adventure series Ultimate Expedition for YouTube Premium among many more. When not teaching at Chapman, Derek is the Vice President of Development at Xpedition Media where he leads the company's development of new documentary and television projects. He also serves on Chapman's Alumni Board.
