Biography

Colleen Sullivan is a theatre maker and educator with a 15-year professional background as a director, actor trainer, producer, collaborator and artistic leader. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Theater from Sarah Lawrence College and a Master of Letters in Shakespeare and Performance from Mary Baldwin College. She has taught at American University in Washington D.C., Gettysburg College, Manhattanville College, Sarah Lawrence College, and briefly at Cambridge University (U.K.) for a short course she designed in acting and ensemble theatre.

As a director, Sullivan spent two years touring her company’s production of a two-man Antony & Cleopatra from The Brick in NY, to the UK in Cambridge and London, to Athens, Greece, and across the eastern United States. She has directed over 30 productions in New York City and regionally in development with the Obie-wining Ensemble Studio Theatre (including Pulitzer Prize and Obie-winning playwrights such as Annie Baker and Qui Nguyen), the Public Theatre, American Shakespeare Theatre including touring, producing, and managing her nationally and internationally recognized Duomuži Ensemble Company of devised and reimaged classical theatre.

 

Recent Creative, Scholarly Work and Publications

NYC, R&Company gallery -- Commissioned to create a theatrical performance for the opening of a sculptor's and poet's exhibit inspired by the sculptures and the poetry. Collaborated with artists from New York and Paraguay. Wrote and performed original piano music, directed and sound designed the performance.
