Biography

Dr. Colette O’Bannion is honored to be the very first Ph.D. graduate from Chapman University with an Emphasis in Multicultural and Curricular Studies. She graduated in 2010 after completing her M.A. in Teaching and Learning with Honors at Santa Clara University. After working as an adjunct professor in IES and MAT since 2019, she is excited to be transitioning to an instructional assistant professor position this year.


Dr. Colette O’Bannion has worked in preschool through university education for over 20 years, spending time as a certified blended learning elementary classroom teacher and administrator in both Silicon Valley and Orange County. Her passion is providing professional development and mentoring teachers to provide the very best they can for the students in their care, while achieving all they can as lifelong learners. The opportunity to work with pre-service teachers at Chapman University has been an absolute joy.


She has also spent the past 38 years actively involved with non-profits dedicated to youth advancement, serving on the Board of Directors for both Children’s Musical Theatre San Jose and Youth Focus, Inc. As well, she is a current member of the Leadership Team for Al Malaikah Shriners of Los Angeles.
