Biography

Dr. Caryn Ito is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Physical Therapy Department. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from California State University, Northridge in 1985, her Advanced Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy specializing in Adult Neurology from the University of Southern California in 1993, and her Transitional Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Chapman University in 2016. She joined Chapman University in 2016, bringing her vast experience in adult neurology and pediatrics. As a former NDTA/Bobath PT Instructor and Neuro-IFRAH Instructor, Dr. Ito has traveled throughout the United States teaching introductory, advanced and certification courses to physical therapists, occupational therapist, and speech and language pathologists on the assessment and management of patients with hemiplegia. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and belongs to the neurology and pediatric sections. Her primary teaching responsibilities include physical therapy examination, clinical pathology (neurology) and assessment and management of patients with upper motor neuron involvement. Dr. Ito’s research interest are in the area of postural control and orthotics in the pediatric and adult populations.
