Biography

Andres de la Torre is an award-winning composer, sound designer, re-recording mixer and editor.

A native of Spain, de la Torre started his career in television as a video editor with Mediapro, one of Spain’s leading production companies. His passion for music and film drove him to start composing for the image while still in college. His first feature, Going Nuts (2006), had a theatrical release and was the first film in the world to feature peanuts as the main characters. The score earned him international recognition among film composers and film music critics. Shortly after, de la Torre wrote the music for the Spanish-North American documentary co-production Disney: Through the Looking Glass (2010), a score that earned him his first Jerry Goldsmith Award after five years of consecutive nominations.

De la Torre continues his work as a composer and sound designer for film while teaching aspiring filmmakers at Chapman University. His most recent work includes Jiu Jitsu, the Netflix sci-fi action starring Nicolas Cage, and Randal’s Kleiser’s immersive VR series Defrost.

De la Torre received his MFA in Film Production from Chapman University. He is an active member of the MPSE and a jury member of the Imagineindia Film Festival in Spain.
