Why We Are Doing This

At Human Resources, we value and count on candid feedback to continuously improve the employee experience, i.e., your experience, at Chapman. Thanks to your voice, it became clear that the Staff and Administrators Handbook was no longer serving the needs of Chapman employees. Thus, we set out to create a better resource for you.

Well-defined policies and procedures are essential to the success of our employees. They foster communication and promote understanding between staff and their supervisors and ensure clear and consistent expectations for everyone. Clarity in expectations creates accountability and trust and contributes to the creation of a psychologically safer workspace.

It is our hope and intention that HR’s Building Consistency Initiative supports all Chapman staff and administrators by providing clear and consistent information about HR policies and processes.

How We Are Doing This

As we approach retiring the Staff and Administrator Handbook, we have been intentional about trying to replace it with user-friendly resources for all Chapman employees, recognizing that your needs may change over the course of your career.

  • We’ve broken the existing 98-page pdf Staff and Administrator Handbook into individual policies to make it easier for you to find what you need.  These longstanding policies remain in effect while we work to update the content of each of them.

  • We are working to create clear and easy to navigate online content so that you can easily locate and access up to date information about HR policies and processes. In addition to policy information, we’ll add detailed process guides to help you find the answers you need As well as updating our existing policies, we’re adding new policies to meet the changing HR needs of the Chapman community.
  • We’ll continue to build and expand the range of tools and resources available to guide you through HR systems and processes.
