+-Center for Human Rights & Humanitarian Law

The Center for Human Rights & Humanitarian Law is a program of the Washington College of Law at American University. It seeks to educate human rights activists and the public-at-large about under-represented human rights. The center aims to raise consciousness and inspire action. It sponsors a Human Rights Film Series, has developed a Rwanda Commemoration Project featuring a resource booklet, and has produced high school lesson plans aimed at teaching about genocide. It features lessons about Rwanda and the Sudan.

+-The Crimes of War Project

The Crimes of War Project is a collaboration of journalists, lawyers and scholars dedicated to raising public awareness of the laws of war and their application to situations of conflict. The goal is to promote understanding of international humanitarian law. Major products of value to teachers and students are the book, Crimes of War: What the Public Should Know, and the video, Crimes of War.

+-Exploring Humanitarian Law

Exploring Humanitarian Law (EHL) is a teacher curriculum with educational modules for young people. The aim of the program is to expose learners (primarily secondary schools) to issues of humanitarian law and principles of respect for life and human dignity. Developed by the International Committee of the Red Cross, the program provides educators with learning materials and strategies that may reinforce and enrich existing educational programs. EHL meets national education standards for social studies.

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is the world's largest humanitarian network that reaches 150 million people in 187 National Societies through the work of over 13 million volunteers.
