Biography

Lawrence has performed in numerous television specials, series, films and stage productions including the Eliot Feld Ballet (in particular, the noted work Intermezzo). Coaching Anne Bancroft for the Herbert Ross classic dance film Turning Point, working with Franco Zefirelli on Jesus of Nazareth and Mel Brooks on Silent Movie, and performing with Baryshnikov in Baryshnikov in Hollywood have added to his wide range of expertise.

Lawrence began his training in Hollywood and Beverly Hills with Eugene Loring and Tatiana Riabouchinska Lichine and continued his studies in New York with American Ballet Theatre. He began his teaching with the Lichine Ballet Academy and taught classes with such stellar names present as Leslie Caron, Cyd Charisse and Joanne Woodward. Lawrence has been a member of the dance faculty at Chapman University, University of California Irvine, Cal State Fullerton and the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts. He is a sought after master teacher who has coached Olympic athletes and instructed instructors at dance conventions. He is also featured in several internationally released award-winning videos. Lawrence has been a guest teacher for the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and worked with such notable talents as Carol Burnett, Mel Brooks, Rita Moreno, Ann-Margaret, Doris Day, Bernadette Peters, Raquel Welch, Ruth Buzzi, Peggy Flemming, Sandy Duncan, Edward Villella, Teri Garr, Glen Campbell and Lucille Ball.
