Irma Lacuku Booker graduated in Foreign Languages and Literatures from the University of Padua (Italy). In 2002 she moved to Detroit, Michigan, where she earned her M.A. in Italian, and her M.A.T. in Secondary Foreign Language Education from Wayne State University. In the summer of 2007 she was part of the WSU Faculty-led Study Abroad Program in Abruzzo, Italy. She received certification for teaching English, Italian and Spanish in the State of Michigan and later Illinois. As part of her education program she student-taught Spanish in two District Schools in Michigan. She has taught Italian at higher education institutions such as Wayne State University, University of Illinois at Chicago, Italian Cultural Institute of Chicago and College of DuPage. She utilizes the full immersion approach in her teaching of Italian, blending language with culture thus rendering the process of learning very authentic.
