Chapman University Harriet S. Salmon Interest Free Loan: The Interest Free loan is a loan in which Chapman University is the Lender. Chapman Interest Free Loan is awarded through the Office of Financial Aid. For information on eligibility for this type of loan, please contact the Office of Financial Aid at 714-997-6741.
If a student is awarded this loan, an online Entrance Counseling and Master Promissory Note must be submitted in order for your loan to post to your account. Also a co-signer is required for this loan. The cosigner must be at least 18 years of age.
Note: If you have been awarded an institutional loan, your ECSI PIN is required for authentication to complete this process. ECSI will provide you with the pin number.
- Log on to ECSI's website at https://www.ecsi.net/prom3B/
- Provide your Social Security Number or Student ID Number, last name and date of birth.
- Enter your ECSI PIN: ~pin%7e when requested for authentication.
- Most pages require that you accept the terms by checking a box at the bottom of those pages.
- You may be required to provide complete reference information for yourself, next of kin (a relative) and two additional references. Failure to complete all lines accurately will keep your loan from disbursing to your account.
- PROMISSORY NOTE and/or DISCLOSURE STATEMENTS - Read completely. Once you have read the promissory note you must electronically sign the note at the bottom of the page. The electronic signature includes a check off box plus your full legal name.
- After you have read and signed the Promissory Note, you will be required to provide the co-signer’s information. An email will be sent to the co-signer's e-mail. Once your co-signer has completed their portion of the Promissory Note, funds will be disbursed.
Chapman Interest free loan has a 0% interest rate throughout the whole life of the loan. If default shall be made in the payment of two (2) consecutive installments of the principal of this loan when due, and said default continues for thirty (30) after written notice, this note shall become due and payable with interest at the rate of 10 % per annum.
There is a six-month grace period before repayment begins after a student graduates or leaves Chapman University whichever comes first. This loan cannot be consolidated, no deferments for forbearances are allowed on this loan. An online exit counseling must be completed upon graduation. Should a student transfer to another university or choose not to take classes for a semester this counseling must still be completed.
