»The Panther Pantry
Chapman's Panther Pantry provides food items that can be used for a week’s worth of meals during times when members of the Chapman community are experiencing food insecurity, which is defined as lacking adequate food for your household and being unable to consistently afford adequate food for your household.
While the Panther Pantry is not intended or equipped to serve as a long-term or singular resource for food insecurity, staff in the Dean of Students Office are available to help students connect to relevant community resources that operate to address chronic financial/food insecurity.
The Panther Pantry serves as a supplemental resource specific to the Chapman community
and has locations on both the Orange and Rinker campuses, each of which offers boxed,
canned, and refrigerated food items and hygiene products.
To request access to the Panther Pantry: If you are experiencing a lack of adequate food for your household and are unable
to consistently afford adequate food for your household, please complete this registration form (the same form is used for both locations). Once your registration has been submitted,
you will be able to visit either pantry location during staffed operating hours.
Operating hours for each Panther Pantry location are outlined in the drop-down fields
below.
The USDA defines food insecurity as a household-level economic and social condition of limited or uncertain access to adequate food and notes that, in 2021, 13.5 million households in the United States were food insecure at some point during the year. In 2022, an average of 41% of college students experience food insecurity at some point during their college enrollment. Food insecurity is experienced by undergraduate and graduate students at all institution types, including 2-year, 4-year, public, and private institutions across the country.

Are there limits to what I can take?
For grocery visits, certain limits on popular or limited items will be in place (for example, a pantry user may only take one carton of eggs per grocery visit) to distribute access to those items as evenly as possible among pantry users. There are no overall limits on the total quantity of food a user may take during a grocery visit. We ask all users to take only what is needed for a week’s worth of groceries for their household.
