This page provides undergraduate cost and financial information specifically for international students. This should help you:

  • Understand the cost of attending Chapman as an international student.
  • Learn more about financial aid for international applicants.
  • Plan for future years at Chapman.

Estimated cost of attendance

Chapman University is a need-aware institution. The total annual cost is the minimum amount of financial verification required for Chapman University to issue an I-20 or DS-2019 for the upcoming academic year.

These estimated costs can be used to complete the required International Student Supplement Form for undergraduate first-year and transfer applicants.

  • Tuition and fees: $64,580
  • On-campus housing and food: $17,814
  • Health insurance: $2,108
  • Books and supplies: $1,600
  • Personal expenses: $3,600
  • Total annual estimated cost: $89,702

All international students studying in the U.S. are required to have health insurance. You can learn more on our Student Health Insurance page. You can view our undergraduate Cost of Attendance page for a complete 2024-2025 academic year breakdown. All rates are subject to change.

If you plan to bring family to the United States, you must verify additional funds for their expenses. The estimated expenses for dependents are $5,000 for the first dependant and $2,500 for each additional dependent per academic year.

Financial aid for international students

International students are eligible for merit and need-based scholarships. Merit-based scholarships can be as high as $40,000 per academic year for first-year students and up to $15,000 per academic year for transfer students.

  • There is no additional application for scholarship consideration. All admitted students are automatically reviewed for merit awards. Merit scholarships are based primarily on a student’s high school academic achievements and overall strength of the application. Merit-based scholarships are awarded at the discretion of the Admission Committee. Additional scholarships are available through individual departments.
  • Chapman offers limited need-based aid of up to $15,000 per year for international applicants. US citizens and Permanent Residents living or studying outside the US are eligible and encouraged to apply for the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).
  • We encourage international students to search for outside scholarships. You can contact the EducationUSA Advising Center nearest you and/or conduct a search online (keep in mind that some scholarships require U.S. Citizenship).

International Supplement Form

Chapman is a need-aware institution. All international first-year applicants are required to submit an International Supplement Form and supporting bank documentation as part of the application. The form will be available in your application portal after you have submitted the Common Application.
