To live in Chapman housing you must complete the housing application and submit Housing Reservation Payment. When the application opens, a link will be available on this site and emailed to incoming students.

  • First-year students are required to live on campus unless they live within 30 miles of campus with a relative.
  • If you are looking to live off campus, you must submit a Petition to Live Off Campus form. This form is available here.
  • First year students are placed in first-year communities.
  • Students who deferred from a previous term must complete a new housing application for the term they are entering Chapman.

First-year application process

  • Incoming first-year students must submit:
    • Their $500 non-refundable Housing Reservation Payment by May 1.
    • The housing application by May 15.
  • The Housing Reservation Payment can be made in your Application Status Page.
  • You can submit your application via the Chapman Housing Portal. You will need to log into the housing portal with your Chapman email address and password.
    • If you are having any issues with your Chapman password, you can reset it at password.chapman.edu.
  • Housing notifications will be sent to your Chapman email in mid-July. The message provides your housing assignment, roommate(s), contact information and other details to help you move into your residential community.
  • If you are bringing a car to campus, you must register it for a free parking permit (this will be available over the summer).

First-year housing timeline

  • May 1: Housing Reservation Payment deadlines first-year students.
  • May 15: Housing Application deadline for first-year students.
  • Mid-July: Housing notification email sent. This email will include roommate(s), contact information and other details to help you move into your residential community.
  • July: Parking permits available for students bringing a car to campus. You can learn more about parking permits here.
  • Tuesday, August 20: Move-in day for first-year students. You can learn more about moving in here.
