University Program Board Job Descriptions
Chair
The University Program Board Chair is the chief student programmer at Chapman University. In support of the Division of Student Affairs, the University Program Board Chair is responsible for ensuring that the University Program Board realizes its mission of enhancing student life and meetings student program needs and desires.
On-Campus Entertainment Director
The University Program Board (UPB) On-Campus Entertainment Director is a member of the UPB executive board at Chapman University. In support of the Student Affairs Learning Outcomes, the On-Campus Entertainment Director is responsible for coordinating at least 2 on-campus programs per month that can include, but are not limited to, live music, themed dance parties, pre-release movie screenings, open mic nights, stand-up comedy, and gaming. Events should differ from events hosted by the Argyros Forum Student Union and are expected to be medium to large scale. Act as a liaison to on- and off- campus entities such as Student Engagement, student organizations, Residence Life and First Year Experience, and service providers or vendors to collaborate on major events. Oversee a group of roughly 20-30 committee members. Candidates should have experience with large-scale event planning.
Off-Campus Trips Director
The University Program Board (UPB) Off-Campus Trips Director is a member of the UPB ExecuBve Board at Chapman University. In support of the Student Affairs Learning Outcomes, the Off-Campus Trips Director is responsible for coordinating at least 2 off-campus programs a month including trips and discounted tickets. These trips include, but are not limited to, Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights, Disneyland, museums, sports games, and other off-campus excursions. Act as a liaison between on- and off-campus service providers and vendors, such as bussing companies. Oversee a group of roughly 20-30 committee members. Candidates should have experience traveling to popular destinations in southern California and should be passionate about travel!
UPB Off-Campus Trips Director 2024-2025
Special Events & Traditions Director
The University Program Board (UPB) Special Events & Traditions (SET) Director is a member of the UPB Executive Board at Chapman University. In support of the Student Affairs Learning Outcomes, the Special Events & Traditions Director is responsible for coordinating programs that are traditional to Chapman including Midnight Breakfasts, Spring Sizzle, Fall Speaker, Fall Concert, and Drag Show. Act as a liaison between on- and off-campus production companies, service providers, and other vendors, including talent agencies. Responsible for coordinating new campus programming traditions and promoting spirit. Oversee a group of roughly 20-30 committee members. Candidates should have experience with large-scale event planning.
UPB Special Events & Traditions Director 2024-2025
Marketing Director
The University Program Board (UPB) Marketing Director is a member of the UPB Executive Board at Chapman University. In support of the Student Affairs Learning Outcomes, the Marketing Director is responsible for coordinating a quality marketing and public relations strategy for the University Program Board including the website, social media, guerilla marketing, advertisements, bulletin boards, promotional materials, and publications for events. Serve also as a liaison to the Panther, Chapman Strategic Marketing and Communications, and Student Engagement Marketing Team. Additional knowledge of public relations is preferred. Oversee a group of roughly 20 committee members. Candidates should be creative, able to multi-task, balance varying volumes of work log assignments, and adapt to the changing needs of UPB; previous work in a Graphic Design position and/or coursework in graphic design (or proficient knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, & Photoshop or similar graphic design software) is preferred.
Marketing Assistants
The University Program Board (UPB) Marketing Assistants are members of the UPB Executive Board at Chapman University. In support of the Student Affairs Learning Outcomes, they are responsible for designing graphics, flyers, posters, digital images, and merchandise designs in accordance with the UPB marketing strategy. Assist the planning and executing of Tabling Events that include smaller-scale programs/giveaways that are quick stopping points for students and opportunities to increase awareness around UPB and UPB’s upcoming events. Support overseeing a group of roughly 20 committee members. Candidates should have proficient knowledge of graphic design software (i.e. Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign) and refrain from using Canva.
Program Assistant
The University Program Board (UPB) Program Assistant is a member of the UPB executive board. In support of the Student Affairs Learning Outcomes, they are responsible for supporting the Committee Member (CM) experience by coordinating monthly bonding events, creating a weekly newsletter, and managing all committee member-related resources and documents (including the CM point tracker). Assist with the execution and production of programs including, but not limited to, large-scale tabling initiatives, and internal development. Attend and assist with at least one on- and off-campus event each month. Candidate should have a flexible schedule and be willing to jump in wherever needed.
