Molly has been with Chapman University for 5 years as a Research Administrator and has over 20 years of experience in the field. She was instrumental in the rollout of the Cayuse Research Suite at Chapman and in her role as Co-Director will continue to improve the Electronic Research Administration for the university. Before joining Chapman University, she was at UCI where she managed both the pre-award and post-award functions for the Division of Infectious Disease. That portfolio included extensive funding from the CDC, NIH, AHRQ, and DOD, as well as multiple clinical trials with various pharmaceutical companies. Molly is an active member of the Society of Research Administrators and is also a member of the National Council of University Research Administrators.

Megan joined Chapman University in 2019 as the Sponsored Project Analyst for Crean College where she provided both pre- and post-award support to faculty based on her comprehensive knowledge of the research process from initial funding application through final study close-out. In her current role as Senior Research Administrator, Megan provides final review of proposals for compliance with opportunity guidelines and sponsor and University policies and procedures as well as institutional sign-off and submission of proposals, award acceptance and negotiation, subcontract preparation and negotiation, and sponsor communications such as submission of progress reports and prior approval requests. Megan also actively participates in educational/training and process improvement initiatives within the Office of Research & Graduate Education and is an active member of the Society of Research Administrators International and the National Council of University Research Administrators. Megan earned her Certified Research Administrator (CRA) credential in June 2024. Prior to joining the Chapman family, Megan spent over 14 years in human subjects research at UCI managing the administrative, logistical, and personnel components of large federally funded projects.

Kris Edmonds has over 30 years in various industries before joining The University of Arizona as a Grant and Contract Analyst for the Pre-Award Sponsored Projects in 2020. During her time at The University of Arizona she had the opportunity to Coordinate the review process for grant and contract proposals, identifying areas of risk and/or concern and provide recommendations for solutions prior to proposal submission. She was also able to provide guidance with the interpretation of and ensure adherence to sponsor guidelines, university policies, and procedures. Kris was born and raised in California and relocated to Tucson, Arizona in 2003.

Larissa Wong graduated from University of California, Irvine with a bachelor’s degree in Public Health Sciences and a minor in Educational Studies. Through her coursework and research internships, she found a passion in improving the health and well-being of different communities, which led her to work in community-based research upon graduation. Larissa has over 8 years of experience in human subject research focusing on adolescent physical and mental health, behavior and development. At UCI, she has gained experience in overseeing multiple NIH-funded and subcontract studies, monitoring and resolving budget expenditures or matters, and ensuring compliance with regulatory policies. She is excited to continue in the field of research at Chapman University as the Research Grants Analyst for Crean College. In her free time, Larissa enjoys trying new restaurants with her husband, going to the beach with her dog, and finding new books to read.

Kara is a southern California native who graduated from UC Irvine with a BA in English and a Master of Arts in Teaching. Before moving into the grant writing and funding world, Kara worked in public schools and was a Montessori educator for nearly a decade. Looking to make an impact in her community outside of the classroom, she worked as a freelance grant writer and coordinator for local nonprofits. Kara is excited to support the Office of Research at Chapman through her work with the Sponsored Projects team. Outside of work, you’ll find Kara reading, hiking, traveling with her family, and perpetually catching up on her shows.

Morgan Sohrabian joined Chapman in 2017 and Office of Research in 2018. She oversees the sponsored project post-award administration and directs the post-award administrators and analysts with grants management. She develops procedures and processes as needed and provides guidance and resolves challenging post-award matters. She is responsible for the annual NSF HERD survey, and she provides reports for various divisions within the university and the award sponsors. She has completed NCURA certification in post-award accounting and finance and is an active member of the National Council of University Research Administrators and Society of Research Administrators International.

Shawn joined Chapman University after having spent 13 years managing all federal funding in Guam Department of Administration’s Division of Accounting where he oversaw all federal expenditures and draws for that organization. During his time with Guam Department of Administration, Shawn also contributed to their overall process improvement and implementation in areas like proper record keeping and accurate payment and reporting processes. Shawn will provide SPS financial post-award support to his assigned portfolio, as noted below. This support will include expenditure review and approval, preparation and submission of financial reports, review and approval of invoices and federal funding draws, and various other duties involved in the financial oversight of sponsored activity.

Joanna Marconi graduated from Chapman University with a Bachelor of Science, Business Administration, emphasis Finance and also received her Bachelor of Music, emphasis in Music Education and Voice from Chapman University Conservatory. Her past experience in the banking and music industries will foster a professional financial insight to the sponsored projects department. As a Chapman alumni, Joanna is excited to join the Chapman University family as a Contract and Grants Post-Award Analyst.
