BS in Software Engineering

» Software Engineering

Society runs on software. Software is what makes work, school, health, entertainment and nearly every other facet of life go round.

And it’s software engineers who make it all possible.

Chapman’s Software Engineering program teaches you how to develop and maintain software for any industry and field you can think of. By the time you graduate, you will be ready to join a fast-paced field that’s always growing, always innovating and always imagining the future of tech one app at a time.

Program Overview

In Chapman’s Software Engineering program, you will learn how to:

  • Build user applications
  • Design web apps
  • Develop computer-systems software focused on computing utilities and operating systems

Diversity and affordability

We’re dedicated to making engineering accessible to a diverse group of students. That’s why all applicants are considered for engineering scholarships that range from $3,000 to 100% of tuition and fees.

These awards support promising engineering students who are underrepresented in the field and/or are interested in certain disciplines.

Research opportunities

Programmers, designers and developers may spend their days immersed in line after line of code, but when it comes to the Software Engineering field, research is key.

Researchers and theorists are making new breakthroughs every day, and staying on top of the latest can help you no matter what you plan to do with your degree.

That’s why we give you the chance to get involved in research and solve real engineering problems in the Grand Challenges Initiative. With guidance from your professors and help from your classmates, who knows what you might discover?

You can get to know our faculty and their research interests on our Research Opportunities page. Feel free to reach out to them anytime if you see something that interests you or have any questions.

ASA DataFest Hackathon

As a Software Engineering student, you will have the opportunity to participate in multiple hackathons every year, including ASA DataFest

ASA DataFest is a data hackathon sponsored by the American Statistical Association where you and your classmates will put your skills to the test and work around the clock to find and share meaning in a large, rich and complex data set.

Study abroad

Take your passion for engineering worldwide in one of our many study abroad programs. Chapman’s Center for Global Education is here to help you expand your horizons and gain a worldwide perspective.

Student clubs and organizations
