4+1 Programs from B.A. in Communication Studies or B.A. in Strategic and Corporate Communication degrees to the Master of Science in Health and Strategic Communication.
The Master of Science in Health and Strategic Communication graduate program aims to foster an understanding of the behavioral, psychological and social bases of health, and requires students to engage in individual scholarship or team research of an interdisciplinary nature. Health and Strategic Communication is the study and use of communication strategies to inform and influence individual, institutional, community and public audiences about important health issues. Our mission is to help improve policy and decision-making through evidence-based research, analysis, and application.
The Chapman Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies program provides an understanding of the history, processes, and effects of oral, written, and media-channeled discourse to prepare students for careers in such areas as corporate communication, arbitration, industrial/labor relations and all fields entailing private and public advocacy.
The Chapman Bachelor of Arts in Strategic and Corporate Communication program distinguishes itself by providing students the opportunity to complement the communication studies courses with additional, unique expertise in learning how to apply strategic communication messaging techniques in specific types of organizational settings including for-profit, non-profit, and governmental organizations to prepare them for careers in a variety of related professions.
This option is available to students pursuing the B.A. in Communication Studies or the B.A. in Strategic and Corporate Communication:
4+1 B.A. to M.S. Health and Strategic Communication
Students earn two degrees, a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies or Strategic and Corporate Communication AND a Master of Science in Health and Strategic Communication, in 5 years (4 years B.A., 1 year M.S.).
