External reviewers play a critical role in the program review process at Chapman. Our faculty nominate experts in their field to participate in the program review process. External reviewers are provided with the department’s self-study and supporting documentation and invited to Chapman for a three-day site visit to meet and interview key stakeholders. Site visits are scheduled to occur from either Sunday – Tuesday or Wednesday – Friday and are structured as follows:
- Day One: Arrival to Orange County and welcome dinner
- Day Two: Stakeholder interviews and meetings
- Day Three: Preparation of initial findings and exit meeting
Following the site visit, reviewers submit a report of their findings and recommendations to the Office of Accreditation and Assessment which is used to guide programs in decision-making and strategic planning for continuous improvement.
Chapman provides a stipend to external reviewers as well as reimbursing or organizing all travel, meals, and accommodations.
Our Site Visit Guide for External Reviewers provides detailed information about what our reviewers can expect before, during, and after the site visit.
