Biography
Dr. Rhona Slaughter spent several years working with the USC Resilience Lab researching
positive psychology theories to promote psychological and behavioral adaptation to
stress, substance use and various other health-related risk factors in childhood cancer
survivors. Her current research investigates the complex mental health relationships
between cancer survivors and their families, particularly among underserved populations.
Dr. Slaughter earned her Ph.D. in Preventive Medicine (Health Behavior Research) from
the University of Southern California, and holds a Master of Arts degree in Psychology
from CSU Fullerton. She joined the Chapman family in 2018 as a part-time lecturer
before her current role as an Assistant Professor of Instruction. Dr. Slaughter enjoys
teaching the foundations of psychology, and is passionate about helping students understand
the connection between classroom instruction and real-world application.
