Public Safety and ParkingPublic Safety has a variety of programs available for general safety and awareness.  Below is a partial list of these programs, for a full list visit Public Safety Programs.

Rape Awareness Defense (R.A.D.):

The R.A.D. System is a comprehensive, women-only course that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defense training.  These courses are offered a variety of times throughout the school year.

Panther Alert:

In the event of an emergency on campus the community will be notified via the Panther Alert system.  This system will contact and inform each member of the community according to their own preferences.  All community members are automatically in the system to be contacted via Chapman email, for additional contact options sign up/in at PantherAlert.

Prevention, Awareness, and Working together for Safety (P.A.W.S.):

P.A.W.S. is a crime prevention concept designed to proactively protect our community through education and the development of partnerships.  The program concentrates on strategies to avoid being a victim, being aware of surroundings, the power of a community watch mindset, and the responsibility to be a good community member.

Operation Saferide:

This service is provided to escort students, faculty, staff and visitors around Chapman University during the hours in which safety is of utmost concern.  Those designated hours are from 7:00pm to 12:00am (PDT) and 5:00pm to 12:00am (PST) during the fall and spring semesters.  On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights the hours will be extended until 2:30am.  Public Safety Officers can also provide an escort anytime outside those hours if requested by someone who feels the need for a safe escort.  For additional details on this program visit Operation Saferide.

+-Parking

Chapman University has a mandatory parking permit policy.  Parking regulations are enforced at all times.  Parking in university owned or operated parking areas without a valid permit, will result in a parking citation.  To obtain a permit, you must register on-line at Vehicle Registration then come by Public Safety with proof of payment to pick up your permit.  Faculty can pay via payroll deduction, forms available on Payroll’s website, or at the Cashier’s Office located in the Bhathal Student Services Building.  If you are living on campus without a vehicle or commuting via alternative means of transportation, you can request a waiver of the mandatory parking permit on-line at Vehicle Registration during the first three weeks of the semester.

Parking on city streets or in public lots, including the Metrolink Lot, while teaching classes at the university violates the university’s Vehicle Rules and Regulations as well as our agreement with the city.  We appreciate your adherence to our parking policy as we work together to be good neighbors to the surrounding community.
