TLC Services
Academic Mentoring
Academic Mentoring is available for students to ensure that they gain the necessary skills to succeed as a university student. Peer mentors help students develop their study skills and learning strategies by assisting in areas such as;
- Time Management
- Note Taking
- Exam Prep
- Stress Management
To request an Academic Mentor, complete Request for Academic Mentor form.
Student and Academic Mentor will meet in-person. Academic Mentor's initial contact with student will be by email.
Tutoring
Peer tutors are available in several general education subjects and for a limited number of upper-division level courses within the different areas of study Chapman University offers. All tutors are Chapman University students who have excelled in particular subjects. Peer tutors are not only familiar with their subjects; they know the ins and outs of the University and can help you feel more comfortable with your academics.
Tutoring: Peer sessions organized by specific classes and subjects to review course content. Tutoring begins the second week of the semester (fall and spring only). See tutoring schedule for availability.
Assigned Tutoring: May be available for students who meet criteria. Email tutor@chapman.edu for additional information.
Music Tutoring: Complete this tutor request form to be assigned to a music tutor only. Please be aware of your responsibilities when working with a music tutor.
Supplemental Instruction (SI)
Supplemental Instruction (SI) provides additional support for courses that are traditionally considered challenging for students. It focuses on collaboration, group study and interaction among students and SI Leader. Students are able to connect with an SI Leader for SI sessions in-person.
SI Sessions are organized group study sessions held by a SI Leader who attends lecture and who has excelled in the course.
SI Office Hour: SI Leaders have a dedicated office hour per week to answer questions that arise from course lecture or SI Session.
