Parent Spring Summit for 2025 is scheduled for February 28 - March 1st. Programming for the weekend included the State of the University by President Struppa, sessions designed to provide you with tools to best support your student, activities to encourage your family to explore the campus, and opportunities to connect with other families.

Friday, February 9, 2024
10:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. | Check-in and Information Center
Check-in for Parent Spring Summit and stop by throughout the day with any questions for our staff or volunteers. Stop by when you arrive to receive your participant name tag and scavenger hunt instructions for a chance to win prizes!

9:30 – 10:30 a.m. | President’s Circle Breakfast
President Daniele Struppa welcomes members of the Chapman Fund President’s Circle to this annual celebration of their generosity and impact. Guests will hear from President Struppa and meet student scholarship recipients.

11 a.m. – 12 p.m. | State of the University
Join President Daniele Struppa as he provides updates on the incredible successes of the past year along with the exciting things to come for Chapman University in the future.

1 – 1:45 p.m. | Student Involvement on Campus
Join the Department of Student Engagement to learn more about opportunities for students to get involved and find their community at Chapman. Through a panel discussion of student leaders and Student Affairs administrators, this session will provide an overview of Chapman clubs, Fraternity & Sorority Life, campus activities, leadership opportunities and more!

12 – 2 p.m. | Leatherby Libraries and IS&T Open House Presentations
Join digital information experts from the Leatherby Libraries and the Department of Information Systems and Technology to learn more about AI in higher education and information security that will keep you and your students safe.

“Everything You Need to Know About AI”, presented by Senior Research Scientist Anna Alber and the Chair of Research and Instructional Services Taylor Greene, this presentation will explore the emerging role of AI in academia. The first part of the presentation will include an overview of the AI Literacy curriculum provided by Librarians during Freshman Foundation Courses. After introducing the basics of AI, Anna will further explore what parents should know about the importance of AI for themselves and their students.

“Good Cyber Hygiene”, a presentation by Chief Information Security Officer, Keith Barros, exploring the topic of Information Security. In the ever-changing online world, it has become increasingly important to maintain one’s cybersecurity. Attendees can expect to learn how to keep their student’s information assets and user account privileges safe.

12 – 3 p.m. | Holocaust Memorial Library Open House
Dedicated by Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Elie Wiesel, the Sala and Aron Samueli Holocaust Memorial Library features permanent and rotating exhibits that tell of the individual lives affected, and all too often ended, by the Holocaust. A child's shoe from the death camp Majdanek; a briefcase used to carry false documents for Jewish children in hiding; a poem written by a boy in Terezin, all transform history into stories through which we can engage and learn.

Panel for 3rd and 4th Year Parents
Attend a panel for parents and families of third- and fourth-years to provide essential information to support your student during this stage of their Chapman journey. Hear from Commencement, Career & Professional Development, Graduate Programs, and Alumni Engagement about graduation, securing jobs following graduation, graduate programs offered at Chapman, and leveraging the alumni network.

Join the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for an all-affinity dinner featuring keynote speaker Kevin Powell, 2024 Grammy-nominated poet, filmmaker, author of 16 books, journalist, human and civil rights activist, former 2-time candidate for US Congress in New York City, Hip-hop historian, Tupac Shakur biographer, and 90's cultural icon and member of the original reality show - the 1st Real World on MTV. Enjoy a continental brunch and hear from Dean Price about student life on campus while you meet other Chapman families from your area. Walk through the Resource & Graduate Fair to learn more about university resources, graduate programs, and volunteer opportunities at the University.

2 – 4 p.m. | Family of the Year Celebration
Bring your family together to close out Parent Spring Summit! Play field games with your student, compete against other families, and complete a scavenger hunt for a prize. Appetizers and beer/ seltzer will be served for those 21+. Students have submitted nominations for Family of the Year. The winner and nominees will be recognized during this event.

Weekend FAQs
Check-in and Information Booth
Check-in will be by the Charles C. Chapman statue by the Attallah Piazza on Friday, February 9 from 10:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Saturday, February 10 from 9:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Staff and volunteers will also be available to answer questions at this location.
Can I register on-site?
Due to pre-event logistics, those who have not registered by February 4 will only be admitted to sessions if space permits.
What should I bring or wear?
Dress for the weekend is casual. Show your Panther Pride with Chapman apparel or your favorite red, black or white clothes.
Where is Parent Spring Summit?
All events will be located in various areas on the Orange Campus.
Agora Gift Shop Hours
The gift shop in Argyros Forum will be open on Friday, February 9 from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Saturday, February 10 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Where should I park?
Register your vehicle for free parking.
Are any events available virtually?
The State of the University Address will be live streamed here. The Panel for 1st and 2nd Year Parents and the Panel for 3rd and 4th Year Parents will be recorded and available following the weekend. Other events will only be available in person.
