Our minimum English undergraduate requirements are:
- TOEFL: an 80 iBT (with balanced sub scores) or 20 per section on the revised paper-delivered test
- IELTS: a 6.5 (with balanced sub scores)
- Duolingo English Test: 120
All applicants who are non-native English speakers must submit proof of English proficiency. Students graduating from secondary schools where English is the language of instruction will automatically be reviewed for a waiver of this requirement.
Students who score at least a 600 on the SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing section, or a 24 on both the ACT English and Reading sections, will automatically have the English proficiency requirement waived. Only official SAT or ACT scores will waive the English proficiency requirement. Self-reported scores will not be used for this purpose.
Transfer students who are completing college coursework in the United States must have completed a transferable English course or 30 transferable hours in a traditional classroom setting to be eligible for an English proficiency waiver. Online English courses will not satisfy this requirement.
