It is a simple means of authorizing a student’s financial aid file to be viewed and discussed by those specifically listed on the document, authorized by the student. The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) protects a student’s personal information, including scholastic information, from anyone other than the student unless otherwise authorized by the student.
