The time comes each year when students need to move out of the residence halls. We hope that your time in our residential communities was comfortable, enjoyable, and educational! Please read the information below to properly check out of your residence hall room.
»Moving Out of the Residence Halls
+-Policies and Check Out Times (End of Year)
As stated in the Residence Living License Agreement, students must move out of their residence hall or apartment 24 hours after they take their last final exam. Please review the final exam schedule to determine your move out date and time.
We understand that graduating seniors may need some extra time to move out of their room. If you are a graduating senior, you will need to sign up for a check out time on or before 12:00 PM on the Monday immediately following commencement.
If you have an extenuating circumstance that requires you to stay on campus longer than 24 hours after your last final exam, you may request a check out extension. Please email your Resident Director with your request and an explanation of the special circumstance. Please note that some requests may not be able to be accommodated.
+-Check Out Procedure (End of Year)
All students will be contacted by their Resident Director with information on the process of checking out of their respective hall or apartment. Please be aware that procedures may differ slightly between halls, so if you have questions, please contact your Resident Director.
Check Out Procedure
In general, you will need to sign up for a check out time at your hall office that is within 24 hours of your last final exam. At the time of check out, all of your individual belongings (not your roommate's) need to be out of the room. You will turn in your mail key (lost mail keys will result in a charge to your student account) and have your room access on your ID card deactivated. If you have a microfridge from Affordable Installations, please unplug and clean it, and tag it with your name. It will be picked during the weekend immediately following spring finals.
Any damage to your room will be assessed after all students have moved out of the room. If you know of damage at the time of your check out, please tell the person assisting you and have it noted on your inventory form. Any unclaimed damage may be charged equally to all roommates' student accounts.
The check out process should take approximately 5-10 minutes.Check Out Checklist
